For my first post I thought I should write about some practical aspects which drew me towards the School of Business, some things that really helped me a year ago when I was trying to decide where to apply for a master programme.
In my research on various schools and graduate programmes, I paid great attention to the list of courses offered. I was very glad to see that SUSB had the most important information I was looking for right there on their webpage. http://fek.su.se/en/ is entirely in English and gives free access to a lot of useful information. For example, if you check the international masters section, you will find that every programme has its own page. Aside from overall descriptions of each programme and admission requirements, you can also find the list of all the courses included and the schedule for each of the four semesters. Moreover, each course is presented in detail, providing information about the teacher and seminar leader, compulsory readings, methods of examination and so on.
I had gone over this webpage a million times, I spent many hours carefully reading about the courses that seemed most interesting and trying to develop a list of pros and cons. But it felt really good to be able to create my own assessment judging from the course descriptions. Usually you would mostly rely on some general presentations of a study programme, whereas now I could actually learn about what kind of books I would have to read, or about the topics of some of the lectures.
This is, in my opinion, one of the great advantages of SUSB, the fact that it is such a transparent institution. Their official webpage has been of great help, it is very well organized and it is easy to find your way around it.
So if you think of applying to SUSB, I suggest you log in to their website and check their courses. There is so much you can find here, some essential details which might help you gain a clearer perspective and make a wise decision.
