Life as a student at Stockholm Business School

It is that time of the year, yes… Saturday evening, 19:00 we just had dinner in the city center at one of my favourite places: K25. The place you can go eat something good, quickly and in a very nice atmosphere. Klinging are the bags from Systembolaget with the booze, we bought just before they closed at 15:00, on our way to one of my friend’s house. After being reconnected again, the lörsdagsgodis and chips are put on the table, the drinks are poured into the glasses and the TV is put on. It feels like a typical Swedish Saturday night or a myskvällPerfect! One of the most important events in the Swedish society: Melodifestivalen. Ever heard of it? Or should I ask: ever heard of Eurovision Song contest? The representative of Sweden at Eurovision will be chosen during the series of the TV program, also called Mello. During four weeks, every week around 7 participants sing against one another in order to win that famous place in the finals. During the same evenings also two persons will be nominated with still a possibility to stay in the game.: they will participate in the “Andra chansen”, the second chance round. Hence, after 4 shows and four finalists, there will be a fifth show with the winner of the second chance around after which all 6 finalists will battle and the representative of Sweden will be known. Last year, Måns Zelmerlöw got to represent Sweden at Eurovision and won even this contest (for those that usually do not watch these shows in particular) ! Hence, Sweden has a a reputation to be held high now, as the show is even taking place in Globen, Stockholm. More and more pressure is put on the participants from both the local and internal audience. If you are wondering in the clubs/cafes where all the Sweden are in the upcoming 5 weeks, the you know: they will definitely be watching Melodifestivalen 😉
